Malaysian Junior Science Olympiad
An annual national olympiad in Natural Sciences — the successor to Kancil Science and Malaysia's selection pathway to the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
What is MyJSO?
MyJSO is an annual national olympiad covering the three Natural Sciences — Biology, Chemistry, and Physics — for students under 16 years old. It is the natural step after the Kancil Science Competition for those performing at the very top.

Selection Process
MyJSO is invitation-only — there is no open registration.

Compete in Kancil Science
Take part in the Kancil Science Competition under the Gamma category (ages 13–15).

Top performers are invited
After Kancil results are announced, medalists from the Gamma category receive an email invitation to MyJSO.

Sit the MyJSO papers
Compete in the MyJSO round — MCQ, theory, and experimental papers across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Top 20 advance to the Final Test
The highest-scoring MyJSO contestants are shortlisted for a Final Selection Test.

Top 6 represent Malaysia
The six best students are selected for training and go on to represent Malaysia at the IJSO.
Competition Structure
MyJSO follows the same format as the International Junior Science Olympiad.
Multiple Choice
10 MCQ questions per subject — 30 questions in total.
Theory
2 theory questions each for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Experimental
1 practical / experimental question each for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO)
The IJSO is a global science competition for students under 16. Malaysia's team is selected from the top MyJSO performers and receives training before flying to the host country each year.
The IJSO has historically welcomed delegations from more than 60 nations. The 2025 edition is hosted in Russia.
Eligibility
Students must be under 16 years old on 31 December of the competition year.
