FAQ for Teacher
Kancil Science Competition, held annually since 2018, engages primary, secondary, and pre-university students in Malaysia. Focused on enhancing scientific knowledge through critical thinking and problem-solving, the competition has drawn over 101,000 students from over 5,000 schools. In Kancil 2024, 26,205 participants from 1,616 schools competed, providing a pathway for national team selection in the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
If your school participated in the Kancil Science Competition in 2024 and you are still teaching at the same school, you do NOT need to create a new ContestHub account. You can use your existing account to register for the upcoming competition by login using the same username and password. Kindly update your profile account.
Each school is required to appoint at least one Teacher-In-Charge (TIC) responsible for handling registration, payment, and overseeing the competition day. The designated teacher must have a ContestHub account to ensure our secretary is informed that you are the TIC representing your school. To be officially recognized as the TIC, please reach out to our customer support team using the phone number provided in FAQs 18.
For Kancil Science, our system allows up to three teachers in charge to be assigned. In cases where a school has more than three teachers, please feel free to reach out to our support team for assistance.
To register your students, you must create a new account on ContestHub. If you register your students using a previous ContestHub account, we will assume that the students are from your previous school, and we will also assume that you are still a teacher there.
We do not have any minimum or maximum requirements for registration, as we warmly welcome all schools to participate in our competition.
We are pleased to offer a 10% Early Bird discount, reducing the registration fee to RM36 per student. To avail of this discount, ensure you register and complete the payment before 4th January 2025. After this date, the fee will revert to the normal price of RM40 per student.

Kancil Science Malaysia competitions are open to students of all levels, from primary school to secondary school. There are different categories based on the students’ grade level for international schools, allowing a wide range of students to participate.

To register for Kancil Science 2025, teacher can share their public form link to students or students are required to inform their science teacher or designate a teacher in charge.
Students must provide essential details, including their full name, age, MyKID number or passport information, gender, and the competition fee of RM40 per student for registration purposes. The teacher login to www.contesthub.my to proceed with students registration.
Yes, non-Malaysian students can participate in Kancil Science Competitions. The competitions are inclusive and open to all students studying in Malaysia, regardless of their nationality.

Sorry but “NO” for 2025. As students returned to school, Kancil Science Malaysia reverted to conducting paper-based / offline competitions. These competitions are invigilated by the assigned teachers at the respective schools, ensuring a fair and secure environment for all participants.
Yes, there is a registration fee of RM40.00 per student to participate in Kancil Science Malaysia competitions. The payment must be made straight from public form or student can handed to the teacher in charge. However, the payment procedure may vary based on the registration process set by the teacher in charge at each respective school.
Yes, Kancil Science Malaysia awards certificates of participation to all students who take part in our competition. We also recognize top-performing students with prizes categorized as Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honorable Mention, based on their marks.

Parents can register their child for Kancil Science Competition competitions through a school-appointed teacher (TIC) if the school is participating in the program or parents can fill in Public Form given from the TIC. For further registration details, please contact your child’s Science teacher.

In Kancil Science competitions, the number of multiple-choice questions varies depending on the category. In all categories, there are 30 multiple-choice questions. These competitions are conducted in a physical, face-to-face mode, and participants are provided with a question booklet and an Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet to record their answers.
Regarding scoring, questions are assigned different point values based on their difficulty levels, categorized as easy, medium, and hard. Typically, the most challenging questions yield the highest scores.
If your child’s school is not participating in the Kancil Science Competition, you have several alternative options. First, please confirm with the ‘Ketua Panitia Matematik’ (Head of the Science Committee) at the school. Typically, if parents request it, the teacher may consider opening the registration. If the school decides not to take part, you can register your child as a surrogate candidate at another school or any learning center that participates in Kancil Science.
