General Information

Kancil Science is Malaysia's largest national science competition, open to students from primary through pre-university levels. In 2025, nearly 32,000 students from 1,483 schools participated.
Kancil Science is organised by Ardent Educational Consultants Sdn Bhd, led by Mr Suhaimi Ramly.
To deepen understanding of science, encourage inquiry-based thinking, grow interest in STEM, and identify students for the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) national team.
Kancil Science has been held in Malaysia since 2018.

Eligibility

All students currently enrolled in Malaysian schools — including local, international, and homeschooled students — are eligible.
Students over 19 years old or those enrolled at university level are not eligible.

Registration

Registration is done through your school, learning centre, or tuition centre. Teachers share a public form link for students and parents to fill in, then complete the registration in ContestHub.
The extended registration deadline is 23 April 2026.
No. Individual registration is not accepted. You must register via a school, learning centre, or tuition centre.
Categories are based on your current school level: Alpha (Standard 1–3), Beta (Standard 4–6), Gamma (Form 1–3), Delta (Form 4–5, Form 6, Pre-U).
No. School cannot be changed once registration is submitted.
Yes — ask your Teacher-in-Charge (TIC) to update the details in ContestHub.
Teachers generate it in ContestHub: Competitions → Add Participant → enable "Public Form".
No. Surrogate students must be registered directly by a teacher.
The public form is tied to a school account, which determines which school appears on the certificate.
No. The form is restricted to students enrolled at that school.
Yes — the same certificates and medals apply. No separate recognition is offered.

Payment

RM 40 per participant (early-bird) or RM 45 per participant (normal registration).
Teachers may pay via bank transfer, cheque, Billplz, or Stripe. Parents pay through teachers or through the online platforms provided.
A confirmation email is sent automatically once payment is successful.
No. Registration fees are non-refundable, even if the student is unable to participate.

Competition Details

Thirty multiple-choice questions across easy, medium, and hard difficulty levels, held in-person.
Outside normal teaching hours, in accordance with Ministry of Education guidelines.
60 minutes.
Marks are awarded for each correct answer on the objective paper.
2B pencils and erasers only.
General science — Biology, Chemistry, and Physics — in the style of the National Science Olympiad.
Approximately one week before the competition date of 18 June 2026.
Question papers, OMR answer sheets, a teacher's guide, participant lists, and a return parcel.

Prizes & Recognition

The top 10% receive a medal and certificate.
Yes. Every participant receives a certificate, with tiered recognition: Gold, Silver, Bronze, Honorable Mention, and Participation.
No. All awards and certificates are distributed through the school.

Events & Preparation

Yes. The Kancil Science Preparatory Workshop 2026 is offered as an optional add-on.
Add it during competition registration in ContestHub.
RM 108 (early-bird) or RM 120 (normal).
The workshop follows the same registration schedule as the competition.
Module, answer scheme, certificate, merchandise, and a Zoom recording.

ContestHub Account

Yes, if you are still the Teacher-in-Charge at the same school, use the same login.
Register a new account under your new school's name.
Appoint at least one Teacher-in-Charge with a ContestHub account, then contact our support team for official recognition.
Up to three TICs per school. Contact support for assignments beyond that.
Your existing account is linked to your previous school's students and cannot be reassigned.
Visit ContestHub.my, click "Forgot Password," enter your registered email, and follow the reset instructions.

Results

August 2026.
Results will be available on the results-2026 page.
Top 10% receive medals, next 40% get Honorable Mention, and the remaining 50% receive Participation certificates.
No. Results are scanned and verified three times using zero-error scanning technology, so rechecks are not offered.

Certificates

Yes. E-certificates can be downloaded through ContestHub.
Yes. Hard copies are mailed to schools, along with medals where applicable.
After results are announced, teachers may submit corrections via the post-announcement correction form.
Gold, Silver, Bronze (top 10%), Honorable Mention (next 40%), and Participation (remaining 50%).
Certificates are jointly signed by Prof Emeritus Dato' Dr Noraini Idris and Mr Suhaimi Ramly.
Yes. E-certificates are available on request, and hard copies are provided to registered TICs.
