ABOUT MALAYSIAN JUNIOR SCIENCE OLYMPIAD (MyJSO)

MyJSO is an annual national level contest with an aim to obtain six of the best and the brightest contestant, the cream of the crop, to represent our beloved country Malaysia in the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO). Only students who are 15 years old and below on 31st December of the competition year can participate in MyJSO.

Subsequential to Kancil Science Competition (KSC), approximately 60 top winners from Gamma category in KSC ONLY will be selected to participate in MyJSO. The journey of the selection process is shown below:
KSC > MyJSO > National Training Camps > IJSO

The details regarding MyJSO 2019 are as follow:

  • Venue: Kuala Lumpur

The winners of the Gamma category in KSC will be invited to participate in MyJSO through email & official letter after the announcement of KSC result.

2018 marks the first year a Malaysian team which consists of six contestants was sent to participate in IJSO at Botswana. Proudly, one of them managed to obtain one bronze medal.

IJSO 2019 will be held at Doha, Qatar in December 2019. IJSO has been established in recognition of the significance of Natural Sciences in young people's general education and in all aspects of their lives. The aims are:

  • To promote and reward the pursuit of excellence in scientific endeavor
  • To challenge, stimulate and encourage gifted students to further develop their talents in Natural Sciences
  • To create friendships and relationships among students around the world from an early age

Since the past 14 years, IJSO has been participated by 75 countries all around the world.
